What does a restroom trailer need on site?

A restroom trailer needs 3 things on site. First is a level spot. Second is a 110-volt outlet on a 20-amp circuit, or a generator. Third is water from a garden hose or the trailer's onboard tank. The tow truck also needs a clear path to that level spot.

NeedWhat worksWhat causes trouble
GroundDriveway, parking lot, or flat, firm lawnSlopes, or soft soil after rain or watering
Power110V outlet on its own 20-amp circuit, or a generatorAn outlet shared with the DJ or caterer
WaterGarden hose spigot within reachNo spigot and no word to us before delivery
AccessA wide path with no low branchesTight gates, sharp turns, overhead wires

A shared outlet can trip the breaker in the middle of the event. Tell us if the site has no spigot, so we fill the onboard tank before delivery.

How many guests can one restroom trailer handle?

Count each trailer station as 1 toilet in our sizing method. For example, a 4-hour party of 100 guests needs 2 toilets, so a 2-station trailer covers it. A 6-hour reception of 150 with a bar needs 5. Pair a 3-station trailer with 2 more units.

Guests climb a short set of steps to reach trailer stalls. That is why each setup adds an ADA porta potty, such as the PolyJohn We'll Care III. The full method is on the restroom count page.

When is a restroom trailer the wrong choice?

A restroom trailer is the wrong choice in at least 4 cases. The site has no power and no generator. The only open spot sits on a slope or soft ground. Guests include wheelchair users and no ADA unit is added. Or the crowd needs 10 or more toilets on a tight budget.

What happens from booking to pickup with a trailer?

A restroom trailer rental moves through 6 steps over about 3 days. We confirm the spot, the outlet, and the water before booking. The trailer arrives 1 business day ahead, gets leveled and hooked up, and stays through the event. Pickup is the next business day after the event ends.

  1. Photos. Send pictures of the spot, the outlet, and the hose spigot.
  2. Book. Pay by card. Trailer bookings cancel free until 24 hours before delivery.
  3. Delivery. The driver backs the trailer in, levels it, and connects power and water.
  4. Event. The trailer arrives stocked. Multi-day events can add a mid-event service.
  5. After the event. Leave power and water on until the truck arrives.
  6. Pickup. The truck returns the next business day.

Boise heat and the trailer

Boise averages about 55 days a year at 90°F or above. Climate control keeps the stalls cool when guests come in from the sun. Air conditioning draws the most power, so a dedicated circuit matters most in July and August.

Do I need a permit to park a restroom trailer?

A restroom trailer on a private driveway, lawn, or venue lot needs no ACHD permit. A trailer on an Ada County street, sidewalk, or shoulder needs an ACHD Temporary Use Permit. Review takes up to 5 working days. In a Boise park, count the trailer's stations on the Parks application.

Apply for street placement through the ACHD permitting page or call 208-387-6100. Leave at least a week before delivery day.

The Boise Parks special event application asks for the number of regular and accessible toilets. List each trailer station as a regular toilet, and list the ADA unit as accessible.

Real questions, straight answers

Questions renters ask about this

How much is a two-station trailer compared to a three-station?

A 2-station restroom trailer starts at $1,195 per event, covering up to 3 days. A 3-station trailer starts at $1,595 per event. Both include delivery and pickup in Zone 1, before 6% tax.

Would you knock off the price if I provide the water and electricity?

The starting price already assumes the site has an outlet and a hose spigot. If the site has neither, tell us at booking. We will quote a generator or an onboard-water plan before you pay.

Do you have trailers with air conditioning?

Every restroom trailer we rent has climate control. That matters in Boise, where July highs average 92.7°F. Plug the trailer into its own 20-amp circuit so the cooling runs all day.

So you just bring it in with your truck, park it, and take it away?

The driver tows the trailer in, levels it, and connects it to power and water. Guests reach the stalls by a short set of steps. After the event, the same driver unhooks it and tows it away the next business day.

$1,195 seems like a lot. What am I getting for that?

The price buys porcelain toilets, real sinks, and climate control for up to 3 days. Delivery, setup, and pickup in Zone 1 are included. For a smaller budget, 2 deluxe flushing units cost $590 and also have sinks.

How far ahead should I book a restroom trailer?

Book as soon as your date and guest count are set. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before delivery keeps an early booking low risk. There is no deposit to hold the date, and the card is charged at booking.

Can the trailer go on my lawn?

A flat, firm lawn works if the truck can reach it. Turn sprinklers off the night before, since soft soil can sink the wheels. Mark sprinkler heads and buried lines so the driver avoids them.
