How many restrooms does a Boise wedding need for restroom rental?

A 150-guest, 5-hour wedding with a bar needs about 5 toilets, with 1 of them wheelchair-accessible. Our planning method divides guests by 40 for receptions of 4 to 8 hours. Then add 1 unit when alcohol is served. Add 1 hand-wash station for every 4 toilets when dinner is served.

  1. 150 guests ÷ 40 = 3.75, so round up to 4 units.
  2. A bar adds 1 unit for every 4, so the count is 5.
  3. Make 1 of the 5 an ADA unit.
  4. Dinner is served, so add 1 hand-wash station.

Each total includes 1 ADA unit. Bridal showers with mostly women and kids add 1 unit per 4. Deluxe units and trailers have sinks, so they can replace hand-wash stations. Run your own numbers on the restroom count calculator.

The venue has 2 restrooms. How many more do we need?

For a 200-guest wedding with a bar over 6 hours, our method calls for 6 toilets in all. A venue with 2 working indoor restrooms covers 2 of those, so plan to rent 4 more. Make 1 of the 4 rentals wheelchair-accessible unless the venue restrooms already are.

We count each working indoor toilet as one unit. This is a planning shortcut, not a rule. Rural venues on septic may ask guests to use the rentals so the tank does not overflow.

Restroom trailer or deluxe flushing units for our wedding?

A 2-station restroom trailer starts at $1,195 and gives guests porcelain toilets, real sinks, and climate control. Deluxe flushing units start at $295 each and need no power or water hookup. Trailers suit dressy venues with an outlet. Deluxe units suit fields, ranches, and backyards far from power.

How do we include guests who use wheelchairs?

Every group of wedding restrooms needs at least 1 wheelchair-accessible unit. That follows the 5% rule in the 2010 ADA Standards. A PolyJohn We'll Care III class unit has a 60-inch turning circle, a ground-level floor, and a 32.75-inch door. That ADA unit rents for $235 per event.

Trailer stalls sit up a short set of steps. Place an ADA porta potty right next to the trailer so every guest uses the same area. The We'll Care III is about 85 inches wide. Plan a flat spot near 8 by 8 feet.

Keep the path firm and flat, with no cords or tent stakes across it. The U.S. Access Board guide explains the 5% per-cluster rule.

What happens from booking to pickup for a wedding?

A wedding rental moves through 6 steps over about 4 days. Units arrive up to 1 business day before the wedding, such as a Friday for a Saturday wedding. Pickup comes the next business day after. Free cancellation runs until 24 hours before delivery, and no deposit is required.

  1. Book. Book once the guest count is close to final. Pay by card at booking.
  2. Site plan. Mark where each unit goes on the venue map. Trailers need a tow path, a level spot, an outlet, and a hose.
  3. Placement. Put restrooms near the reception but out of photos and away from the food line.
  4. Delivery. Units arrive cleaned and stocked the business day before.
  5. Wedding day. Weekend-long events can add a mid-event service.
  6. Pickup. The truck returns the next business day. Sunday pickup is by arrangement.

Boise weather on the wedding day

July highs in Boise average 92.7°F. Trailer climate control earns its cost in summer. Shade matters for portable units. Weddings from November through March get antifreeze in the tanks at no charge.

Real questions, straight answers

Questions renters ask about this

I don't like the look of the blue ones. Do you have anything nicer?

Restroom trailers have porcelain toilets, real sinks, and climate control, starting at $1,195 for a 2-station trailer. Deluxe flushing units cost $295 and add a flush and a sink to a single stall. Both work well for a wedding.

Do the trailers need power and water?

A restroom trailer needs a standard 110-volt outlet on a 20-amp circuit, or a generator. Water can run from a garden hose, or from a fresh tank on board. The trailer also needs a level spot. Deluxe flushing units need none of these.

Can you deliver on Friday for a Saturday wedding?

Friday delivery for a Saturday wedding is the normal plan. Pickup falls on Monday, the next business day. That timing is part of the event price, with no daily charge.

This is a backup for a wedding of 50 people. Is one unit enough?

For 50 guests over 5 hours with a bar, our method calls for 3 toilets in all. If the venue has 2 working indoor restrooms, 1 rental fills the gap. A deluxe flushing unit at $295 keeps it looking nice.

Can you explain the difference between ADA and handicap one more time?

An ADA unit is one its maker says meets ADA rules. Examples are the PolyJohn We'll Care III and Satellite Freedom. Other roomy units fit a wheelchair, but the maker does not call them ADA. For a public wedding site, book an ADA unit.

Our wedding is in a Boise park. What does the city need from us?

The Boise Parks special event application asks how many regular and accessible portable toilets you will have. The organizer arranges delivery and pickup. If you sell beer or wine, the application is due 90 days ahead.

Is $1,195 for one day or the whole weekend?

The 2-station trailer starts at $1,195 per event, covering up to 3 days. A Friday-to-Sunday wedding weekend fits in that price. Delivery and pickup are included in Zone 1, and tax is 6%.
