Oregon OSHA rules for Ontario job sites and farms

Oregon runs its own OSHA plan, so Ontario employers follow Oregon OSHA rules, not Idaho's federal setup. OAR 437-003-0020 adds to the federal 1926.51 toilet table. Construction projects costing $1,000,000 or more must have flush toilets plus wash basins with warm water and soap.

That $1,000,000 rule does not apply to highway work or to power, water, sewer or gas line projects. Smaller jobs still follow the federal toilet table. Ask Oregon OSHA if you are unsure which rule fits your project.

Our deluxe flushing unit flushes and has a sink, with no hookup. Tell us your project size so we can quote the right mix. Read the Oregon OSHA construction toilet directive.

Right-of-way permits from the City of Ontario and Malheur County

The City of Ontario Engineering division offers a right-of-way permit application. It falls under Title 8, Chapter 8 of the city code. Roads outside city limits fall to Malheur County, which uses its own road permit. Units placed on private lots need neither permit.

I-84 and the state highways through town belong to the Oregon Department of Transportation. Keep units off those shoulders. The Malheur County Health Department handles food vendor questions under Oregon rules.

Find the city form on the Ontario Engineering page.

Malheur County Fair week and other Ontario events

The 2026 Malheur County Fair & Rodeo ran July 28 to August 1 at the Malheur County Fairgrounds in Ontario. Vendors, barn crews and campers there may need their own units and hand-wash stations. A 5-day camp of 60 people needs 2 units at the all-day rate.

Check the fair's own site for next year's dates before you book. Fair vendors serving food should add 1 hand-wash station per 4 toilets. Plan a service visit every 2 days in late July heat.

Delivery days, desert heat and the Snake River line

I-84 crosses the Snake River between Idaho exit 3 at Fruitland and Ontario. Same-day delivery works when a truck is already on the Payette or Fruitland side. If no truck is close, delivery shifts to the next morning. Ontario sits at about 2,150 feet, and summers run hot and dry.

  • Shade cuts odor during July and August heat.
  • From November through March, tanks get antifreeze at no charge.
  • Pick a drop spot within about 30 feet of firm truck access.
